I first discovered my love for flowers at the age of 13 when I landed a Saturday job in a local flower shop and this early introduction helped to shape my future and fuel my creativity.
With a never ending thirst for expanding my knowledge constantly throughout my career, I gained the National Diploma of the Society of Floristry (NDSF) and won an award for the highest marks for both the theory and practical exams. I then went onto to achieve a Certificate of Education at Greenwich University and taught Floral design for 10 years .
As a highly regarded, qualified freelance floral designer/Educator/Author/Speaker and Demonstrator with extensive experience, I have been in the floral industry over 35 years and every day and every job that I do is a complete joy.
During my long floral career, I was extremely privileged to win a RHS Chelsea Gold medal and Best in show for NAFAS in the floral art section and 2 Silver Gilt medals for floristry. Having a passion for competitive work, I entered the Fusion Flower Magazine -Designer of the year competition and was awarded 3 Bronze awards. I am extremely proud to be a featured designer in the Fusion Flower Magazine and Fusion Flowers Weddings magazine.
Recognised in the UK and internationally as one of the industries shining talent, I have worked in many amazing places throughout the UK and worldwide creating bespoke designs.
My love for travel and education has taken me to America where I studied for the AIFD and I was awarded the prestigious American Institute of Floral Design (AIFD) and the Certificate of Floral Design (CFD).
Little did I know this would be a major turning point in my floral career.
A few years back, I was invited to be a part of a team of 10 designers who were responsible for decorating the Kodak theatre in the USA for the prestigious Oscar awards in LA and I found the whole experience surreal. It was one of the best team events I have ever had privilege to work on.
More excitement followed the Oscars with the chance to work on large scale design work again in America. I was invited to join a prestigious floral design team decorating floats for the annual Rose Bowl tournament in the USA that takes place on New Year’s Day. Over 60 floats are decorated in flowers and all take part in this prestigious event in Pasadena with awards given to the top designs.
Another exciting highlight was being invited to work alongside Bill and Kris Schaffer who own Schaffer Designs in the USA , again working on large scale amazing designs for the Philadelphia flower show.
Over the years, I have been lucky enough to work with amazing clients, bespoke companies , floral societies and businesses and have managed to build up a reputation for being reliable, creative, innovative and above all good fun to have around and I am available for freelance work in the UK and worldwide.
As a qualified teacher and Author of the bestselling teaching book Fresh Floral Jewellery, you may have already guessed I am a real advocate of education and my career has taken a path which enables me to travel extensively within the UK and worldwide hosting floral workshops/demonstrations/fun talks for societies and clubs and large and small corporate event days.
With my second book Floral Accessories hot off the press, I will be hosting new floral workshops and demonstrations and sharing my meticulous designs and inspiring ideas.
